Story Highlights: The enigmatic sci-fi movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once” took home seven golden statuettes at the 95th Oscars 2023 (Academy Awards) on March 13 (IST), including best picture, which is considered Hollywood’s top honor.

Subsequently, the team behind the movie “RRR” brought home the Best Music (Original Song) award for his exuberantly spirited song “Naatu Naatu,” making the nation proud. The lyrics were written by Chandrabose, and Keeravani wrote the music.

All 23 categories were shown live this year as well. Eight categories (film editing, original soundtrack, production design, makeup, and hairstyling, animated short, documentary short, live action short, and sound mixing) were presented off-air last year; instead, they were taped before the broadcast, and highlights were added to the show.
Oscar Award 2023: Who Created History?
Pinocchio won the night’s first award for the “Best Animated” feature, becoming Guillermo del Toro the first person in Oscar history to win Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Animated Feature.
Everything Everywhere All At Once had a tremendous night because it won nearly every award it was nominated for at the illustrious ceremony. The movie, which depicts a Chinese immigrant becoming entangled in a grand adventure where she must protect many selves in parallel universes from the evil force wishing to ruin the multiverse, won seven Oscars!
It was nominated for 11 awards, including best picture, director (Kwan and Scheinert), lead actress (Michelle Yeoh), supporting actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), supporting actor (Ke Huy Quan), original script, and editing.
Michelle Yeoh has simultaneously created history while winning the Oscar Award for best actress. In recognition of her complex portrayal in the multiverse “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” the Malaysian-born performer made history by becoming the first Asian woman to win the Academy Award for best actress on Oscar night.

For Best Original Song (RRR’s “Naatu Naatu”), Best Documentary Feature Film (Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes), and Best Documentary Short (Kartiki Gonsalves-directed The Elephant Whisperers), India received a total of three Oscar nominations this year.
Meanwhile, Daniel Roher’s documentary “Navalny,” released in 2022, won the Oscar for “Best Documentary Feature Film,” defeating Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes from India. With his Oscar victory, Brendan Fraser completes the Brenaissance. Fraser finished his comeback on Oscar night by winning best actor for The Whale.
