Story Highlights: The 76th British Academy Film Awards, usually known as the BAFTAs, honored the top domestic and international films of 2022 on February 19, 2023.
The BAFTA Awards often honor excellence and winning a BAFTA is respected in the Film Industry and is viewed as a major accomplishment for both actors and filmmakers.
The 2023 EE BAFTA Film Award winners were announced during a ceremony that was televised on BBC One and iPlayer and hosted by Alison Hammond and Richard E. Grant at The Royal Festival Hall.
All Quiet on the Western Front, an adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque’s 1928 novel in German, received the most nominations with 14. Some believed that this strong performance guaranteed its spot in the Best Picture contest at the Oscars.
The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once were followed with ten nominations apiece.
In terms of BAFTA nominations, All Quiet on the Western Front trailed only Gandhi (1982), which received sixteen nominations.
EE BAFTA Award 2023: Winner List
Seven BAFTAs went to All Quiet on the Western Front: Best Film; Edward Berger as Director; Film in a Language Other Than English; Adapted Screenplay; Cinematography; Original Score, and Sound.
Four BAFTAs were won by The Banshees of Inisherin: Outstanding British Cinema; Original Script; Barry Keoghan for Supporting Actor; Kerry Condon for Supporting Actress.
Elvis received four BAFTAs: Austin Butler’s lead actor; casting; costume designer; make-up, and hair.
Cate Blanchett received Leading Actress for her role in Tár.
Aftersun earned Charlotte Wells the award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer.
The documentary went to Navalny.

Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro won Best Animated Feature.
Editing was won by Everything Everywhere All At Once,
Special Visual Effects went to Avatar: The Way of Water, and
Production Design went to Babylon.
The British Short Animation Award went to The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse;
While An Irish Farewell took up the BAFTA for British Short Film.
Sandy Powell, a well-known British costume designer, received the BAFTA Fellowship. The Fellowship is the highest honor given by BAFTA in appreciation of a person’s excellent and outstanding career contributions to film, television, or games.
Emma Mackey received the EE Emerging Star Award. The EE Rising Star Award winner, the only category in which the British public votes, was revealed on January 17, 2023.
This is their first BAFTA award for Edward Berger, Austin Butler, Kerry Condon, and Barry Keoghan. It is Cate Blanchett’s fourth BAFTA award.
The movie All Quiet on the Western Front, The World War epic has now won seven BAFTA awards, breaking the previous mark of five held by the Italian coming-of-age drama Cinema Paradiso in 1991. The World War I epic now holds the record for most BAFTAs for a movie not made in English.
Nevertheless, the nominations were also remarkable for mainly excluding Avatar: The Way of Water, The Fabelmans, and Top Gun: Maverick from significant categories, as well as for totally excluding Bardo, Glass Onion, RRR, and Women Talking, which were front-runners at numerous other award events.

Richard E. Grant, a Swazi-English actor who has been nominated for an Academy Award and a BAFTA, presided over the ceremony while British television personality Alison Hammond presided from backstage, providing viewers with what is referred to as an “access-all-areas experience.”
