The XXII Commonwealth Games, also known as Birmingham 2022, were a worldwide multi-sport event for participants from the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England from July 29 to August 2022. The Games, which included 72 participant countries and 1.2 million ticket sales, were the biggest ones ever. For the first time, there were more competitions for women than for men at the games.
Events And Their Venue
Seven of the Fifteen venues, including the athletics stadium and the marathon route, were in Birmingham. Birmingham 2022 was held in 15 locations throughout the West Midlands. Events were held at the NEC Arena and the National Exhibition Centre complex’s exhibition halls, a nearby city located on the outskirts of Birmingham. All sporting events will be placed in Alexander Stadium, starting with the grand opening ceremony. The Sandwell Aquatics Centre will host the swimming and diving competition, while the Arena Birmingham will host the artistic and rhythmic gymnastics. Basketball, badminton, boxing, weightlifting, table tennis, para table tennis, and weightlifting competitions are held at the NEC.
The University of Birmingham Hockey and Squash Centre hoisted the hockey and squash competitions, while Smithfield played host to three more events: wheelchair basketball 3-by-3, beach volleyball, and basketball 3 × 3. Track cycling and para track events were to be held at Lee Valley VeloPark. Coventry Stadium hosted the rugby sevens, Edgbaston Stadium hosted the cricket twenty20, and Sutton Park the triathlon and paratriathlon events.
Lawn bowling and para lawn bowling were played In Victoria Park, Victoria Square where the Athletics were held at the Marathon Finish Area. In Warwick, a cycling race was staged. Time Trial for cyclists took place in West Park. Mountain biking competitions were held in Cannock Chase Forest and judo and Wrestling competitions in Coventry Arena.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games had Longines, the University of Birmingham, Chase, Severn Trent, and Dettol as official sponsors.
A cultural festival and other trade activities were organized throughout the West Midlands in conjunction with the games.

Australia is ranked first with 178 medals, second is England with 176, followed by Canada with 92, India with 61, New Zealand with 49, Scotland with 51 etc. in the medal tally.
